1st attempt I used backed up files from my Seagate Drive.

2nd time I tried using iCloud sharing (a bit slow...). I just tried your suggestion of using Migration Assistant (duh, me) from the Seagate. All came out with same result. Thinking of next trying connecting both laptops and trying Migration Assistant again (will need proper connect cable tho 😕) or perhaps DropBox......Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

What format is the seagate drive/ For the Photos library it must be Mac OS extended (journaled)

and exactly how you did the migration is critical

The best way is to connect the systems together or use an EHD formatted mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the Photos library intact as a single entity form the original system to the pictures folder of the new system and then launch Photos on the new system
